A

Access model
The rule an event uses to decide who can press play. You pick one of four for each event: Free, Subscription, Pay-per-event or Hybrid. The event page itself stays open to everyone, so it can be shared and found.
Live EventsDocs · Access & pricing modelsDocs · How access is decided
Activity log
The Studio’s audit trail. It records creations, edits, deletions, sign-ins, role changes, password resets and settings changes across 54 record types — with who acted, their role at the time, and the before and after. Entries can’t be deleted from the Studio.
Docs · The activity logThe Studio
Ad-free plan
A subscription plan with Show ads to subscribers switched off. Its holders skip the pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll breaks and the in-player banners, while banners on your website pages still show to everyone. If any plan a viewer holds is ad-free, they get it.
Docs · Subscription plans & season passesDocs · Advertising placementsMonetization
Ad-supported video (AVOD)
Industry term for video paid for by advertising rather than by the viewer. In MediaCore2 you run it with pre-roll, mid-roll and post-roll breaks in the player, 8 banner placements on your site and a separate banner inventory for your mobile apps — alongside plans and tickets, not instead of them.
MonetizationDocs · Advertising placementsDocs · Mobile ads
Add-on
An optional capability that installs into your Studio and your site. An administrator redeems its unlock code in Studio → System → Plugins — a card marked Free needs none — and installs it, and it brings its own screens, permissions and wording, in your colours. Six ship today, including Clip, Reels, Forms and Ticketing.
Add-OnsDocs · What add-ons areDocs · Installing an add-on
Athletes directory
A public page listing the athletes on your platform. Visitors search by name and narrow the list with filters such as position. It sits behind an opt-in feature switch and is offered when your platform is set up for sports.
Athletes & TeamsDocs · Teams & player rosters

C

Catalogue
Industry term for everything a streaming service offers. In MediaCore2 it’s every event, on-demand title, show, live channel, radio station and article you publish — one catalogue your site and your TV and mobile apps show together, with the same access decisions everywhere.
Video on DemandDocs · Which content type to use when
Clip
An add-on that puts a scissors button in the player. A viewer whose plan includes Clip can save the last few seconds of a live stream, or cut a short range from a recording, and keep it on a My Clips page. Clip is a per-plan switch, so it can be a premium perk.
Add-OnsDocs · Clip
Comp / comping
Industry shorthand for giving access away on the house. In MediaCore2 staff grant a plan from a viewer’s account under Studio → Management → Users. The grant takes effect at once, is recorded as staff-issued and counts as zero revenue, so your figures stay honest.
Docs · Comping accessMonetization
Console lock
A second password in the Feed Console that protects the settings that could take a broadcast off air, such as a feed’s push details or creating and deleting a playout. Everyday operating — starting a playout, switching a destination — stays outside it. It’s set for your whole platform when it’s configured, and knowing it never opens anything a person’s role doesn’t allow.
Docs · The broadcast console password lockBroadcast Operations

D

Device limit
How many signed-in devices one account may use for paid playback, set on each plan. Going over never blocks a sign-in: paid playback pauses on every device until the viewer signs one out, which they do themselves from their list of devices. Staff accounts are never limited.
Docs · Device limits & managing devicesDocs · Managing devices
Discount code
A percentage-off code for subscription plans, created under Studio → Management → Coupons. Each code can carry a redemption cap and an expiry date, and applies to every plan or only the plans you name. Discount codes don’t apply to store products.
Docs · Discount codesMonetization

E

Encoder
The software or hardware that turns your camera signal into a stream. MediaCore2 works with encoders such as OBS and vMix, or a hardware unit: when an event is set to take a push, the platform issues a private push address and stream key for you to paste in.
Docs · Encoder setup (OBS, vMix, hardware)Docs · The three ways to go live
Event
A scheduled live broadcast with its own shareable page, countdown, access model and player. It moves from upcoming to live to ended on its own, driven by the start and end times you set.
Live EventsDocs · Creating an event

F

Feature switch
A switch in Studio → System → Settings → Content → Features that turns part of your platform on or off. Turning a module off hides its public pages and menu link, and usually its Studio section too — nothing is deleted. There are 20 switches: 15 start on and 5 are opt-in.
Docs · Turning modules on and offDocs · Feature switches reference
Feed Hub
The monitoring wall in the Feed Console. Every feed, pipeline and playout sits side by side with its status and, when live, a moving preview, viewer count and bitrate. It refreshes every 5 seconds while it’s on screen.
Broadcast OperationsDocs · The monitoring dashboard
Forms
An add-on for building registration, application, waiver and contact forms by drag and drop, with fields from short text and dropdowns to file uploads and drawn signatures. Each form gets its own public link, and staff approve, reject or request changes on submissions, with a full status history and an automatic email at each step.
Add-OnsDocs · Forms: builder, fees & review
Free plan
A subscription plan priced at zero. It activates straight away with no payment step, which suits a registered tier or a sign-up drive, and it’s still recorded alongside your paid plans.
Docs · Subscription plans & season passesDocs · Choosing a monetization model

G

Genre
A shared label, such as a sport or a kind of programme, created once under Studio → Taxonomy → Genres. You tag events, on-demand titles, shows and athletes with it, and viewers see it as chips on title pages.
Docs · Categories, genres & taxonomyVideo on Demand

H

Hybrid event
An event sold two ways at once: viewers with a qualifying subscription watch free, and everyone else can buy a ticket. It converts subscribers and one-off buyers on the same broadcast.
Live EventsDocs · Access & pricing models

I

Ingest
Industry term for getting a live signal into a platform. A MediaCore2 event takes its signal one of three ways: pick an existing live feed, push from your own encoder to an address the event issues, or use an automated camera that starts and stops with the schedule.
Docs · The three ways to go liveDocs · Live sources: encoder push, SRT, automated & review cameras

L

Live channel
An always-available channel in your public line-up, with its own artwork, category and access. It can carry a live feed or a 24/7 playout, and it shows LIVE only while something is actually on air.
Live TV ChannelsDocs · Live channels & the public channel grid
Live feed
A live source registered in the Feed Console that you attach to events and channels. There are four kinds: a standard encoder push feed, an SRT feed, an automated camera that films unattended, and a review camera for instant-replay officials.
Docs · Live sources: encoder push, SRT, automated & review camerasBroadcast Operations
Live scoring
Running your own scoreboard from a phone. A scorer at the venue taps the score, runs the clock and sets the period with any label, and the scoreboard refreshes every 10 seconds for viewers on web, mobile and TV. Every accepted change is kept with who made it and the before and after.
Sports & Live ScoringDocs · Live scoring overviewDocs · Running the scoreboard from a phone
Locked final
A score marked final. Once locked it freezes, and only an administrator can reopen it — so a result can’t drift after the game.
Docs · Finalizing & correcting a scoreSports & Live Scoring

M

Merchant account
Your own account with Stripe, PayPal or Square. You connect it in the Studio, buyers pay on the provider’s side, and the money goes straight to you on your own payout terms. Renewing plans run on Stripe or Square; PayPal takes one-time payments.
Docs · Connecting Stripe, PayPal & SquareMonetization
Mid-roll
An ad break during playback. On a live stream it repeats at an interval of minutes you set; on a recording, it plays once at a percentage of the way through. Like the pre-roll, it can offer a skip button after a countdown you choose.
Docs · Pre-roll and mid-roll adsDocs · Advertising placements

O

On-demand
Industry term for video or audio people play whenever they like. In MediaCore2 an on-demand title carries its poster, description, genres, cast and access, can hold several parts in order, and is either free or for subscribers.
Video on DemandDocs · Publishing a videoDocs · Multi-part & chaptered titles
OTT (over-the-top)
Industry term for delivering video straight to viewers over the internet, with no cable or satellite operator in between. MediaCore2 does it through your own website plus TV and mobile apps, all fed from the same Studio.
Apps & DevicesDocs · Supported devices

P

Pay-per-view (TVOD)
Industry terms for charging per title instead of per month. In MediaCore2 it’s a pay-per-event ticket: a one-off price for one event, with an access window you set from 1 hour to 1 year, 24 hours by default. Access unlocks once the provider confirms the payment.
Live EventsDocs · Pay-per-event tickets
Paywall
The point where access is checked. MediaCore2 never hides listings or event pages: the check happens at the play button or the article body, and a blocked viewer is told why and shown the one action that fixes it. Articles use three levels — free, any subscriber or one named plan.
Docs · How access is decidedDocs · Paywalled articlesPublishing & Editorial
Permission
A single capability you can grant, such as running events or viewing payments. There are 43 permission keys in 15 groups, plus 2 every staff member always has. Each person’s Studio sidebar shows only the sections their permissions open.
Docs · Permissions referenceDocs · Roles & permissions
Playout
Industry term for automated playback of scheduled programming. In MediaCore2 a playout turns a playlist of recordings into a 24/7 channel, with loop and auto-start options and Start, Stop, Next and Sync controls — nobody has to sit at the desk.
Live TV ChannelsDocs · 24/7 scheduled playout channels
Pre-roll
An ad that plays before the video starts. You choose the ad and how many seconds pass before a skip button appears; a post-roll works the same way after the video ends. Viewers on an ad-free plan see neither.
Docs · Pre-roll and mid-roll adsMonetization
Programme guide
A week-at-a-glance schedule split into Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Late Night on your platform’s clock. Your events appear in it automatically, and you add one-off or weekly recurring programmes under Studio → Content → Schedule.
Docs · The programme guideLive TV Channels

Q

QR sign-in
Signing in on a TV without typing a password on a remote. The TV shows a QR code that stays valid for 120 seconds; the viewer scans it with a phone that’s already signed in, checks the device name and approves. The sign-in goes to the TV itself, never to whoever scanned the code.
Docs · Signing in on a TV with a QR codeApps & Devices

R

Reels
An add-on for a vertical short-video feed. Each viewer’s feed puts what they haven’t seen first, viewers love, comment on and share reels, and you can open submissions to your audience with moderation.
Add-OnsDocs · Reels
Replay
The on-demand title the platform builds from an event when it ends, carrying the event’s artwork, description, genres and access. Depending on how the event went live, it’s published as soon as its recording arrives or saved for you to review. A broadcast recorded in several takes becomes Part 1, Part 2 and onwards inside one title, with nothing to upload.
Docs · Ending an event & publishing the replayLive Events
Right-to-left (RTL)
A layout for languages written from right to left. When your platform runs in Arabic, the whole interface mirrors — navigation, tables, forms, sliders and the player’s controls — across the site, the Studio, emails and notifications. MediaCore2 ships in English, French and Arabic.
Docs · Language, currency & timezoneWhite-Label & Branding
Role
A job description you create — Game Day Producer, say — by ticking permissions, then give to staff members. Each person sees only the Studio sections their role opens. Only administrators create and edit roles.
Docs · Roles & permissionsDocs · Staff accountsThe Studio
Rolling plan
A subscription plan whose period — days, weeks, months or years — starts the moment someone buys. The Studio calls it a Recurring plan. With auto-renew on it renews by itself on Stripe or Square; PayPal takes one-time payments.
Docs · Subscription plans & season passesMonetization
Roster
The people attached to a team. Each roster member is a card with a portrait, name and jersey number that opens into a profile with position, age and biography, and one athlete can belong to more than one team.
Docs · Teams & player rostersAthletes & Teams
Roster position
A group on a team roster — Players, Coaches, Staff or any label you define — managed under Studio → Taxonomy → Roster Positions. The team page shows one row per position.
Docs · Roster rolesAthletes & Teams

S

Season pass
A plan with a fixed start and end date that every buyer shares, so it ends for everyone on the same day however late they joined. The Studio calls it a Fixed window plan.
Docs · Subscription plans & season passesMonetization
Series, season and episode
How shows are organised: a show holds seasons, and each season holds numbered episodes. Episodes inherit access from the show or override it one by one, Duplicate copies an episode’s setup as the next one, and Up Next keeps viewers moving through the season.
TV Shows & SeriesDocs · Shows, seasons & episodesDocs · Duplicating an episode
Sign-in to watch
A site-wide switch, Require sign-in to watch, under Viewer Access in your settings. When it’s on, visitors need an account to watch or read your events, on-demand titles, episodes, articles, live channels and radio, free items included, while browsing stays open and staff are never asked. It starts off.
Docs · Accounts & sign-inDocs · How access is decided
Simulcast
Sending one live signal to other platforms at the same time. An event can push to Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, X, NFHS Network or a custom destination — up to 5 by default — each switched on or off on its own mid-broadcast, and all stopped when the event ends.
Multi-Destination StreamingDocs · Streaming to several platforms at once
Site timezone
Your platform’s clock, chosen from 31 timezones. Schedules, countdowns, publish times and reports are all read against it, so 7pm means 7pm where you are.
Docs · Language, currency & timezoneDocs · Scheduling, countdowns & timezones
SRT
Secure Reliable Transport, a streaming protocol built to keep a picture together over unreliable connections. In MediaCore2 an SRT feed is one of the four kinds of live source, for crews broadcasting from venues with shaky internet.
Docs · Live sources: encoder push, SRT, automated & review camerasDocs · Encoder setup (OBS, vMix, hardware)
Subscription plan
What viewers buy for ongoing access. A plan carries a price, a period, a device limit and extras such as ad-free viewing, and a viewer can hold several plans at once, keeping each until its own period ends.
Docs · Subscription plans & season passesMonetization
Subscription video (SVOD)
Industry term for a streaming service paid for by membership. In MediaCore2 you build it from subscription plans and season passes, and the same access decision follows a subscriber across your site, mobile apps and TV apps.
MonetizationDocs · Choosing a monetization model

T

Taxonomy
The shared lists you tag content with, under Studio → Taxonomy: Genres and Cast & Crew, plus Conferences, Groups, Athletes, Roster Positions and Teams on a sports platform. Create an entry once and pick it wherever it fits.
Docs · Categories, genres & taxonomyDocs · Cast & crew
Team page
A public page for each team with its crest, brand colour, description and roster, plus the events, on-demand titles and articles tagged with that team, filed into sections automatically. Empty sections are left out. The public Teams page that lists every team is an opt-in feature switch, offered on a sports platform.
Athletes & TeamsDocs · Teams & player rosters
Test mode
A payment provider setting that runs checkouts without moving real money. Each provider has its own Sandbox or Live environment switch and a Test credentials button, and you flip to Live when you’re ready to sell.
Docs · Test mode & going liveDocs · Connecting Stripe, PayPal & Square
The Studio
The operations dashboard your staff use to run the platform — content, the homepage, broadcasts, pricing, payments, branding, ads and reports — across 95 screens in 35 areas. Your audience never sees it; they see your site and your apps.
The StudioDocs · A tour of the Studio
Ticker
A broadcast-style bar pinned to the top or bottom of every page. It mixes lines you type, outside news feeds and lines built from your own schedule, can add a breaking-news alert band and a strip of live match cards, and has 14 settings for how it looks and moves.
Docs · The site-wide tickerSports & Live Scoring
Ticketing
An add-on that sells admission to the event itself, not only the stream. You set price tiers with their own capacity and sales window, buyers pay through your own provider and receive a barcoded ticket, and staff scan tickets at the gate from a phone.
Add-OnsDocs · Ticketing
