Build a show with seasons and episodes
Create a series, add its seasons and episodes, and decide which episodes are free.
Use a show for anything episodic — a weekly magazine programme, a coaches’ show, a documentary series. Viewers get season tabs, an episode grid and an Up next list that keeps them watching. You need the Shows permission, and the Shows switch must be on in Studio → System → Settings → Content → Features.
Create the show
- 1Start a new show
Go to Studio → Content → Shows and click New show.
- 2Fill in Identity
Type the Title, Short description and Description, then the Release year, Rating (0-10), Content rating and a Trailer URL video picked from the media library.
- 3Add artwork and tags
Pick the Poster and Backdrop under Visuals, then Genres and Cast under Taxonomy.
- 4Set the show’s access
In Access, choose Free or Subscription. For Subscription, pick Required plans, or leave it empty for any active subscriber. Every episode follows this unless you override it.
- 5Save once
Click SAVE CHANGES. The Seasons panel only appears below the form after the show has been saved.
Add seasons
- 1Open the season form
In the Seasons panel, click NEW SEASON. Number is already filled in with the next number.
- 2Describe the season
Add a Release year, an optional Title such as “The Playoff Run”, a Description and a season Trailer picked from the media library, then click SAVE.
- 3Put seasons in order
Drag a season by its grip handle. The public show page uses the same order.
Add episodes
- 1Open the season
Click a season row to expand it, then click NEW EPISODE.
- 2Fill in the episode
Enter the Number and Title, then the Description, Duration (min) and Air date.
- 3Attach the video
Click Pick video and choose the file from the media library.
- 4Decide its access
Leave Access override on — Inherit from show —, or choose FREE or SUBSCRIPTION for this episode alone. Click SAVE.
Mixing free and paid episodes
| Show access | Episode override | Who can watch the episode |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | Inherit from show | Holders of the show’s required plans |
| Subscription | FREE | Anyone — a free first episode to hook new viewers |
| Free | Inherit from show | Anyone |
| Free | SUBSCRIPTION | Any active subscriber |
On the public episode page, Up next lists the following episodes in the same season, so a binge session carries on without a trip back to the show page.
