Connect Stripe, PayPal and Square
Connect your own merchant accounts, check your keys, and understand which provider can take which kind of payment.
Your platform works with three payment providers: Stripe, PayPal and Square. You connect your own merchant accounts, so money goes straight to you on your own payout terms, and card numbers never reach your platform. Whoever holds the organisation’s merchant logins, usually finance or an administrator, should do this.

Connect a provider
- 1Open Gateways
Go to Studio → Management → Payments and click the Gateways tab. Each provider has a card with a status chip: Ready, Not configured or Disabled.
- 2Expand the card
Click the provider’s card to open its settings.
- 3Choose the environment
Under Environment, choose SANDBOX while you set up and test, or LIVE to take real money.
- 4Paste your keys
Copy each key from your provider’s dashboard into the matching field (“Paste your…”). Use the eye icon to check what you’ve pasted.
- 1Enable and save
Switch on Enable this gateway and click SAVE. The chip changes to Ready once every required key is saved.
- 2Test the credentials
Click TEST CREDENTIALS. You’ll see “Credentials look good”, or a message explaining what’s wrong. Square’s message also confirms the location and currency it will use.
- 3Ready Square for renewals
Square takes plans that renew only once Webhook signature key is filled in on its card, as well as the required keys. The Recurring badge next to a provider’s name doesn’t reflect this, so don’t rely on it.
How buyers pay
- Buyers usually pay on the provider’s own secure page and are then returned to your site.
- For a renewing Square plan, the buyer types their card into Square’s secure field on your checkout page.
- Your platform checks every payment with the provider before unlocking anything.
- Renewing members can cancel from their own account page and keep the period they’ve paid for.
