Publish a video
Add a video to your on-demand catalogue, choose who can watch it and put it live.
Use this when a finished video — a replay, a documentary, a highlights package — should sit in your catalogue for viewers to find and play whenever they like. You need the On-Demand videos permission, and the On-Demand switch must be on in Studio → System → Settings → Content → Features, or the menu item is hidden.
Before you start
- Upload the video file, a portrait poster and a wide backdrop to Studio → Library → Media Library. The title form picks files from there; it doesn’t upload them.
- Create the category in Studio → Content → On-Demand → Categories if it doesn’t exist yet.
- Add any genres and cast & crew you want to tag under Studio → Taxonomy.
Create the title
- 1Open a new title
Go to Studio → Content → On-Demand and click New video. Identity, Visuals and Taxonomy sit on the left; Stream, Playlist, Access and Publishing on the right.
- 2Fill in Identity
Type the Title — the only required field — and pick a Category. Write a Short description for cards and a full Description for the title page, then add the Release date, Duration (min) and a Content rating such as PG or TV-14.
- 3Add the artwork
Under Visuals, click PICK on Poster (portrait) and Backdrop (wide) and choose images from the media library. Pick a Trailer URL video if you have one.
- 4Tag it
Under Taxonomy, choose Genres and Cast. On a sports platform you can also tag Teams and Roster members, so the video appears on their pages.
- 5Attach the video
In the Stream card, click Pick video under Video file and choose the file. A preview player appears so you can check it’s the right one.
Choose who can watch
In the Access card, choose an Access type. The title page stays open to everyone and to search engines either way — the lock sits on the play button, and a blocked viewer is told what unlocks it.
| Access type | Required plans | Who can play it |
|---|---|---|
| Free | — | Anyone, signed in or not |
| Subscription | Left empty | Any viewer with an active subscription |
| Subscription | One or more plans picked | Only viewers holding one of those plans |
Publish it
- 1Check the Publishing switches
Active puts the title on the public site. Featured makes it available to featured-only homepage rows and puts it first among recommendations for its category.
- 2Save
Click SAVE CHANGES. You stay on the form, and the title appears in the On-Demand list.
- 3Check the public page
Open the title on your site in a private browser window to see exactly what a signed-out visitor gets, including the lock on a paid title.
Find it again later
The On-Demand list switches between a grid and a table, filters by status, access, category and Featured only, and sorts by newest, release date, title or most viewed. Choose Custom order (drag) to drag titles into the order you want.
