ON AIRROLES & PERMISSIONS

Build the roles your organisation actually has, give each person a Studio cut down to their work, and take the access back in one step when they leave.

  • 43 permissions · 15 groups
  • 2 always on
  • Only Admins edit roles
  • Role changes audited
02/ 07WITHOUT IT

  1. 01

The admin login gets written on a card in the production truck, and every volunteer who reads it can open the payments too.

  2. 02

The camera operator who needed one feed walks away with the keys to the whole platform — and keeps them after the season ends.

  3. 03

And when a role quietly gains a capability nobody meant to give, there is no record of who ticked the box.

03/ 07HOW IT WORKS

An Admin builds the role, Staff Members hands it out, and the same screen takes it back.

  1. Step 01

    Name the role

Open Management → Roles & Permissions, select New role and call it what your organisation calls it — “Finance – read only”, “Camera crew”. A description tells the next administrator why it exists.

  2. Step 02

    Tick what it may do

Work through the matrix group by group, using Select all where a whole area fits. Notifications and Help sit above the matrix, locked on. A role with nothing ticked won’t save.

  3. Step 03

    Give it to a person

In Management → Staff Members, add a name, an email, the role and a password of at least 8 characters. Edit the role later and the change reaches everyone who holds it.

  4. Step 04

Take it back on the last day

Delete the staff account. Their Studio sessions end immediately, their crew and scoring app sign-ins go with the account, and the removal lands in the activity log.

04/ 07WHAT IT DOES

Every rule below is checked by the platform itself — hiding a menu item is never the only thing standing in the way.

01

Admin, the one fixed role

Admin holds every capability, wears a System badge and opens read-only. Nobody can edit, rename or delete it — every other role is yours to shape.

02

Ready-made roles to start from

Your platform arrives with ready-made roles, Sub Admin, Editor and Streamer among them. Rename them, re-tick them or delete them. A role still held by someone can’t be deleted until they’re moved.

03

A sidebar rebuilt per person

Every Studio link is tied to a permission. A section with nothing left in it disappears, and sign-in lands on the first page that person can open — Help, when nothing else fits.

04

Guardrails around Admin

Only an Admin can open Roles & Permissions, install add-ons, touch an Admin account or reopen a locked final score. The last Admin can’t be demoted or deleted, and nobody can delete their own account.

05

Crew logins that stop at the feed

The streamer login hands a camera operator push details for your active feeds, leaving out SRT feeds and any feed already broadcasting. A review login gives replay officials your review cameras. Neither opens a Studio page.

06

Scorers who only score

Seven live-scoring permissions cover eligible events, the score, the clock, the period and locking the final. None of them opens a Studio page, and only an Admin can reopen a final.

07

Add-on permissions that follow the add-on

Forms brings two permissions and Ticketing four, down to scanning at the gate. They sit in the matrix while the add-on is on and leave while it’s off.

08

A matrix that matches your platform

Switch sport off and the Athletes permission and the live-scoring group leave the matrix. Roles that already hold them keep them, so switching sport back on changes nothing.

09

A second lock on the console

With a console password set, feed and playout changes that could take a stream off air ask for it on top of the role. Each unlock is personal, lasts 2 hours, can be ended with one click and never opens more than the role allows.

05/ 07BOTH SIDES OF THE ROLE

Questions operators ask

Not to Admin. Only an Admin can assign the Admin role, edit an Admin’s account or change what a role includes. Manage staff members & assign roles can still hand any other role to anyone, themselves included — so grant it only to people you’d trust with every non-Admin role.
