Simulcast lets a producer send the picture arriving on a feed or an event out to other platforms, alongside your own site and apps. You add each destination once, then switch it on when you’re ready. There are 6 destination types.

Add a destination

  1. 1
    Open the Restream panel

On the feed’s console page or the event’s Details page, find the Restream panel. The counter beside its title shows how many destinations you have against your limit.

  2. 2
    Start a new destination

Select the add button at the top of the panel, then choose the Type.

  3. 3
    Give it a title

Enter a Title your team will recognise mid-show, such as “YouTube – main channel”.

  4. 4
    Paste the details

Check the RTMP URL, then paste the key into Stream key (optional). The Studio joins the two with a slash to make the full push address, so don’t paste the key into both fields.

  5. 5
    Save

Save the destination. It’s created switched Off, so nothing goes out yet.

  6. 6
    Switch it on

When your encoder is pushing, flip the destination’s switch. It reads Live while it’s on.

During the broadcast

Each destination has its own switch. Turning one off stops that platform only — the others, your site and your apps carry on. Adding, editing and switching destinations never asks for the console password, so whoever is running the show can react on the spot.

How many destinations you can add

Each feed or event can push to 5 destinations at once by default. When the counter is full, remove a destination you no longer need, or ask an administrator to change the limit in Studio → System → Settings → Content → Streaming. The same limit applies to feeds and events, and the Streaming tab only appears once the console is unlocked.

When the event ends

When an event’s broadcast window closes, its destinations are removed automatically, so a finished event never keeps pushing to Facebook or YouTube. Destinations on a feed stay in place until you remove them.
