A playout turns recorded video into a continuous broadcast. Broadcasters use it to fill a channel between live events, run a highlights loop overnight, or keep a sponsor reel on air all weekend. Playouts live in their own red section of the sidebar: Studio → Playout → Playouts.

Create a playout

  1. 1
    Start a new playout

Go to Studio → Playout → Playouts and select New playout. Creating a playout needs the console unlocked — see the console password lock.

  2. 2
    Fill in Identity

Enter a Name and Description, then the Application Name, Stream ID and Server URL from your streaming settings. Application Name is case-sensitive; leave it empty to have one generated.

  3. 3
    Choose Behaviour

Turn on Loop playlist to restart from the first video when the last one ends, Auto-start on save to go on air as soon as you save, and Adaptive bitrate for several quality levels.

  4. 4
    Save

Save the playout. It appears in the list with the status Ready until you start it.

A playout isn’t public on its own. Create a live channel and set its URL source to Playout to put it on your public Channel Grid — see live channels & the public channel grid.
