End an event and publish the replay

Understand what happens when an event ends, then review and publish the on-demand replay the platform builds for you.

You don’t press a stop button on an event. When its end time passes, the platform retires it and starts building the replay: an on-demand title that carries the event’s details and recordings. Your job is to check the replay and, for some events, publish it.

What happens when an event ends

MomentWhat the platform does
The end time passesWithin a few minutes the event is set to Inactive and leaves the public lists. Its homepage slide and guide listing come down, and any destinations it was pushing to are stopped.
Viewers are still watchingAnyone already watching keeps playing until the stream stops or they reload. A reload shows “Event ended”, then returns them to the event page. On an AI Camera event the player stops at the end time by itself.
An Automatic or CamScheduler recording arrivesAn on-demand title is created from the event and published automatically as soon as its first recording is attached.
A Manual event endsAn on-demand title is created from the event’s details with no video in it yet, and saved as Inactive. If a recording of the event arrives later, it’s attached and the title publishes automatically; otherwise add the video yourself, then publish.
More recordings of the same event arriveThey’re added to the same title as Part 1, Part 2 and so on, in the order they were recorded.

The replay copies the event’s title, descriptions, artwork, category, genres, cast & crew, access and SEO fields, except that a ticketed event’s replay becomes subscribers-only. Staff with on-demand access get a notification: “Recording imported”, saying either that the title is now LIVE or that it’s saved as INACTIVE for review.

Review and publish the replay

  1. 1
    Watch for the notification

Open the bell and click the “Recording imported” notification for your event.

  2. 2
    Find the title

Or go to Studio → Content → On-Demand and search for the event’s title.

  3. 3
    Check the parts

Play each part and confirm the order. Rename a part if “Part 2” should say something like “Second half”.

  4. 4
    Check access and artwork

Decide whether the replay should be subscribers-only or free — tickets don’t unlock replays. Replace the artwork if the generated poster isn’t right for a replay.

  5. 5
    Publish

For a title saved as Inactive, set it to Active and save. It appears in your catalogue straight away.

The Studio
Studio → Content → On-Demand, a replay created from last night’s game with three parts listed as Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

Broadcasts recorded in several takes

If the encoder dropped and reconnected, or you broke for halftime, each recording becomes its own part inside one replay, numbered by when it was recorded. A replay with a single recording shows no part label at all. Nobody needs to upload or join anything.
