Finalize and correct a score

Lock a result when the game ends, fix a mistake before or after the lock, and know what the score history keeps.

This page is for scorers and the administrators who back them up. A final score is the one fans screenshot and coaches quote, so it only moves with an administrator’s say-so.

Fix a mistake during the game

Until the game is finalized, just correct it in the scoring app: tap the wrong score back down, or reset the clock or period. Viewers see the correction at their next score update, and the change is added to the history like any other.

Lock the final

    Confirm the result

    Check the score with the officials or the scorebook before you lock anything.

    Finalize in the app

    In the scoring app, finalize the event. The score, clock and period freeze.

    Check the public page

    Open the event page and check that the matchup card shows the final score.

Correct a locked final

    Sign in as an administrator

    An administrator signs in to the live scoring app with their own administrator account.

    Reopen the event

    Open the event and reopen it. The lock comes off and the score can be edited again.

    Make the correction

    Fix the score, clock or period.

    Finalize again

    Lock the corrected result. Viewers see the new final at their next update.

The score history

Every accepted change is kept in a permanent history: score changes, clock and period changes, finalizing and reopening. Each entry records who made it, when, from which device, and the state before and after. The history isn’t shown on any Studio screen.

  • Reopening a final adds entries. It never erases earlier ones.
  • A change refused because another phone got there first isn’t recorded, because it never happened.
  • If a result is disputed, the history shows exactly how the score got there.
