Acceptable Use Policy

Draft pending legal review. This document describes how TKDS intends to operate and may change before it is finalised. Questions: info@tkdsmedia.com.

MediaCore2 hands an organisation a live signal, a paywall and an audience under its own brand. This policy sets the lines that come with that. It applies to every customer running a platform — the operator — and to everyone the operator lets in: staff, crew, scorers, and any viewer allowed to post.

01Who is responsible

The operator is responsible for its platform and for what is published on it, including what its viewers post. The Studio gives you the controls to stay on top of that:

  • Comments are off by default, switched on separately for articles and events, and reviewed in a moderation queue.
  • Reel submissions can go through a moderation queue instead of being approved automatically.
  • Each role gets only the permissions you tick, and the activity log records what every staff member changed.

Make sure the people you give access to know these rules too.

02Nothing unlawful

Don’t use your platform to publish, stream, sell or promote anything unlawful where you operate or where you direct your audience. In particular:

  • Material that sexually exploits or endangers children — reported to the authorities, without exception
  • Content that incites violence or terrorism, or hatred against people for who they are
  • Threats, harassment, stalking, or publishing someone’s private details to intimidate them
  • Defamatory material, or content that invades someone’s privacy
  • Fraud and scams — including selling tickets or passes to a broadcast you have no reasonable prospect of delivering
  • Unlawful gambling, or goods and services that are illegal to sell where you sell them
  • Anything that breaches sanctions or export restrictions

03Only what you have the rights to

Stream and publish only what you own or are licensed to use. For a broadcaster, that usually means checking:

  • The event itself — permission from the league, venue, promoter or performers to broadcast it and to sell access to it
  • Music — in your streams, replays, playout channels and radio stations
  • Other people’s feeds — no rebroadcasting a TV channel, match feed or stream you don’t hold the rights to
  • Logos, crests and likenesses — on team pages, roster profiles and generated artwork
  • Territory and timing — any geographic or time limits in your rights agreements, including on the destinations you simulcast to
  • Clips and replays — if your plans let viewers clip, make sure your rights allow fans to take and keep those clips

When a rights holder complains, the notices section below explains what we’ll ask of you.

04No abusive streaming or platform misuse

  • Don’t use your platform to relay, host or deliver streams or files for services other than your own, unless a written agreement allows it
  • Don’t publish stream keys or crew logins, or share them beyond the people cleared to use them
  • Don’t send deliberately malformed or excessive streams, or anything designed to degrade the service
  • Don’t probe, scan, load-test or attack the platform. Planning an unusually large broadcast? Tell us first and we’ll plan it with you
  • Don’t upload malware, or use the platform to send spam or phishing
  • Don’t create fake accounts or inflate views, ratings, loves or listener counts — a sponsor report built on invented numbers misleads the people paying for it
  • Don’t use simulcast in a way that breaks a destination’s own rules
  • Don’t work around the access controls, device limits or paywalls of anyone else’s platform

05Respect your viewers’ privacy

Your audience trusts your brand with their details. Keep that trust:

  • Publish your own privacy and cookie notices — Library → Pages in your Studio lets you write them and place them in your footer
  • Collect only what you need, and get consent where the law requires it — including a parent or guardian’s for a minor
  • Disclose any analytics tags, pixels or chat widgets you add to your site
  • Send announcements and newsletters only to people entitled to receive them, and respect the notification choices each recipient makes
  • Don’t sell or hand over your audience’s data in ways your own notice doesn’t allow
  • Get permission before publishing personal details on roster profiles — especially a minor’s age, portrait or biography
  • Point unattended automated cameras at the field of play, not at spaces where people expect privacy, and post notice at venues where the law requires it

06Sell honestly

  • Say clearly what a plan, ticket or product includes, what it costs and how long access lasts
  • If a plan renews on its own — possible with Stripe or Square — say so at the point of sale
  • Publish a refund policy and honour it. Refunds are issued from your payment provider’s dashboard
  • Fulfil the store orders you accept, or tell the buyer promptly if you can’t
  • Follow consumer law where your buyers live, and your payment providers’ rules on what you may sell
  • Label advertising and sponsorship clearly, and keep the ads you run lawful

07Notices and cooperation

When TKDS receives a complaint or legal notice about your platform — a copyright takedown, a rights holder objecting to a live stream, a court order or an authority’s request — we forward it to you. We expect you to:

  • Respond promptly. For a live stream, promptly means while the broadcast is still running
  • Remove or restrict the material if the notice is valid, or tell us why you believe it isn’t
  • Keep your named contacts current, including someone who can act during your broadcasts
  • Cooperate with reasonable requests for the information needed to resolve the matter

Where a court or authority lawfully requires something of TKDS directly, we comply, and we tell you unless the law forbids it.

08If a line is crossed

We tell you what we found and ask you to put it right. Most issues end there.

Serious or repeated breaches are handled under your order form, which sets out the remedies available — up to and including ending the agreement. Either way, you remain responsible to your own audience for what happened on your platform.

09Report a problem

  • Content on a platform that runs on MediaCore2: contact that platform’s operator first, or write to info@tkdsmedia.com
  • A security vulnerability: security@tkdsmedia.com. Please don’t access other people’s data, and give us reasonable time to fix the issue before you disclose it
  • Anything else about this policy: info@tkdsmedia.com

10Changes to this policy

We update this policy as the platform and the law change, and change the date at the top when we do. Customers’ named contacts hear about material changes before they take effect.
