Put live scores on your events
Choose how a live score reaches your viewers — scored from a phone, fed by a venue scoreboard or typed by hand — and see where it appears.
On this page
Read this before your first game night if you’re a producer or athletic director setting up a season. Every sports event can carry a live score on its matchup card, and there are three ways to get the numbers there. You can mix them across a season and even on the same event.
Three ways a score arrives
| Source | Who runs it | What it carries | Where you switch it on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phone scoring | A scorer at the venue, signed in to the live scoring app | Score, clock (counting up or down), period with any label, the final lock, added time and penalty shoot-outs | The live scoring tile in the event’s Integrations card |
| Venue scoreboard | Nobody — a compatible venue scoreboard system sends it | Score, clock and period as the scoreboard reports them | The venue scoreboard tile and its scoreboard ID in the Integrations card |
| Typed by hand | A staff member in the Studio | The score only | The Score fields for Team A and Team B in the Teams & venue card |
Which source wins
Once a scorer starts working a game on a phone, their numbers take priority over a venue scoreboard. When neither is running, the card shows the score typed on the event. A phone-scored event keeps showing its countdown until the scorer makes the first change, so switching live scoring on early never puts a 0–0 on the page.
Set up an event for live scores
- 1Check the sports switch
Go to Studio → System → Settings → Integrations → Platform and make sure Is platform sport is on. When it’s off, the matchup, venue scoreboard and live scoring fields are hidden from the event form.
- 2Open the event
Go to Studio → Content → Events and open the event, or create a new one.
- 3Fill in Teams & venue
For Team A and Team B, enter the Name, Logo, Color and Position (home/away), plus Conference and Group if you use them. The card draws these whatever the score source.
- 1Pick a score source
In the Integrations card, switch on the full-width live scoring tile with the trophy icon for phone scoring, or the venue scoreboard tile, which carries the scoreboard system’s logo, for a connected scoreboard. You can switch on both.
- 2Set the status and save
Set the event’s Status to Active and save. The scoring app only lists events that are Active and have live scoring switched on.
Where viewers see the score
- The matchup card on the event’s page: crests, team colours, the score, the period and a running clock.
- The programme guide, where matchups show as full cards with the live score.
- Added-time chips and penalty shoot-out strips, when the scorer sends them from the phone.
- The ticker’s score strip and the live score ad widget, for matches you set up in Studio → Ticker → Score Ticker.
Viewers’ pages check for a new score every 10 seconds. The clock keeps ticking smoothly between checks, so nobody has to reload.
