Schedule an event, its countdown and its timezone
Set an event’s broadcast window on your platform’s clock, move it when plans change, and see what viewers see before, during and after.
On this page
An event’s start and end times drive everything else: the countdown, the moment the player appears, the reminders, the end of the broadcast and the replay. Getting the times right on your platform’s own clock is the most important thing you do when you schedule.
Times run on your platform’s clock
Your platform has one timezone, chosen from 31 in Studio → System → Settings → Locale → Region. Every start and end time you type is read on that clock, whatever timezone your browser or your viewers are in.
| Field | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Start date & time | When the countdown ends and the player appears |
| End date & time | When the broadcast ends, the event retires and the replay process begins |
| Duration (minutes) | The planned length, kept with the event’s details |
| Timezone (Only for display) | A label (EST, CST, MST, PST, GMT or None) printed after the time. It doesn’t move the window. |
| Release date | The date shown with the event’s details. Left empty, it uses the start date. |
Set the broadcast window
- 1Open the Schedule card
Open the event from Studio → Content → Events and find Schedule.
- 2Enter start and end
Pick Start date & time and End date & time on your platform’s clock. The end must be after the start.
- 3Allow for overruns
Set the end time past the latest the broadcast could run, including overtime or extra innings.
- 4Label and save
Choose a Timezone label or None, then click SAVE CHANGES.
Move a kickoff from the Events list
- 1Find the row
On Studio → Content → Events, use Today or the Date range filter to find the event.
- 2Open the times
Click the pencil after the Ends value. Both Starts and Ends become date pickers.
- 3Save or cancel
Click the tick, press Enter or click anywhere outside the row to save (“Schedule updated”). Press Esc to cancel.
What viewers see through the day
| When | Event page | Watch page |
|---|---|---|
| Before the start | A countdown to the start | “Event not yet live” with a countdown |
| At the start | Live | The player appears on its own, with no refresh. If the signal isn’t arriving yet, a connecting panel keeps checking. |
| After the end | An ENDED badge | “Event ended. This event has ended. Taking you back…”, then a return to the event page |
Reminders that go out automatically
| Notification | Who gets it | When |
|---|---|---|
| Event starting soon | Viewers who saved the event | 15 minutes before the start, in-app (email off by default) |
| An event went live | Viewers who saved the event | When it starts streaming, in-app (email off by default) |
| Event going live in 5 min | Staff who run Event Hub | Five minutes before an Automatic event’s window opens |
