Create live channels for the public channel grid
Turn a feed, playout or pipeline into a channel on your public Channel Grid, decide who can watch it, and understand when it shows LIVE.
Live channels are the cable-style line-up your audience browses. Each channel wraps a source — a feed, a playout or a pipeline — with a name, artwork and access rules. Channel managers and producers build them in Studio → Feed Console → Manage Channels.
Create a channel
- 1Start a new channel
Go to Studio → Feed Console → Manage Channels and select New channel.
- 2Fill in Identity
Enter the Channel name and Description, and choose a Category if you use them. Create categories from Categories on the channel list.
- 3Add the artwork
Pick a Thumbnail. Turn on Auto-update thumbnail to replace it with the next upcoming event’s poster automatically.
- 4Set Access & gating
Set Access type to Free or Paid. For a paid channel, Restrict to plans limits it to named plans; leave it empty to accept any active subscription.
- 5Choose the source
In Stream console, set URL source to Feed, Playout, Pipeline or Manual URL, then pick the source.
- 6Publish
Fill in the SEO fields, leave Active on and save. The Studio confirms “Channel saved.”

| Manual URL | The picture comes from a playback address elsewhere. If an administrator has set Allowed stream domains, the address must be on one of them. |
Order, categories and status
Drag channels in the list to set the order viewers see — the Studio confirms “Channel order saved.” Filter the list by All, Active or Inactive, and search by name.
What viewers see
The public Channel Grid shows your channels as artwork cards with category tabs, a Search channels… box and a Paid badge where it applies. Channels without a category sit under General. A channel keeps playing in the site’s persistent player while the viewer browses.

When a channel shows LIVE
The red LIVE badge only appears when something is genuinely on air, detected two ways: the channel’s stream reports it is broadcasting, or an event linked to the channel is live. When a live channel drops, staff with Feed Console access get a “Channel offline” notification. An off-air placeholder, set in Studio → System → Settings → Content → Streaming, fills the player once a linked event has ended.
