Create roles and choose permissions

Build roles such as “Game Day Producer” from the permission matrix, see what each permission group opens, and know which areas stay with administrators.

Instead of fixed job titles, you invent the roles your organisation actually has and tick what each one can do. Roles live in Studio → Management → Roles & Permissions, and only staff with the Admin role can open that page.

How roles work

  • Admin is the system role. It holds every capability, carries a System badge, and can’t be edited or deleted — you can only view it read-only.
  • Every other role is yours: a name, a description and the capabilities you tick, from 43 permissions in 15 groups.
  • Two capabilities are Always on for every staff member: their notifications inbox and the Help centre.
  • Your platform starts with a few ready-made roles, including Sub Admin, Editor and Streamer. Edit, rename or delete them like any role you create.
  • The Athletes permission and the live-scoring group only appear when your platform is set up as a sports platform. Add-ons can add permissions of their own.

Create a role

  1. 1
    Start a new role

Go to Studio → Management → Roles & Permissions and select New role.

  2. 2
    Describe it

Under Role identity, enter a Role name (for example “Content Manager”) and a short Description of what the role is for.

  3. 3
    Tick capabilities

Under Capabilities, tick what the role may do. Each group has Select all and Deselect all. The Always on (every staff member gets these) rows are shown locked.

  4. 4
    Check the summary

The Summary panel shows the Name, Permissions granted and Users assigned.

  5. 5
    Create it

Select Create role. If nothing is ticked, the Studio asks you to “Pick at least one capability before saving.”

  6. 6
    Assign it

Give the role to people in staff accounts.

What stays with administrators

  • Roles & Permissions itself — anyone who could edit roles could give themselves anything.
  • System → Plugins, where add-ons are installed.
  • Reopening a score that has been locked as final.
  • Creating, editing or removing Admin accounts.

Permissions from add-ons

An add-on can bring its own permissions, so you can hand one person just that add-on. They appear in the matrix while the add-on is switched on in System → Plugins and disappear while it’s off; switching it back on restores what each role had ticked. An add-on without permissions of its own stays admin-only.
