Send announcements and edit automatic notifications
Compose an announcement for the right audience and channels, then rewrite, re-route or switch off the 22 automatic notifications.
On this page
Use Compose Notification when you have news: a new season, a schedule change, a free weekend. Use Notification Templates to set the words of the messages the platform sends on its own, such as receipts, expiry warnings and staff alerts. Each lives under Studio → System and has its own permission, so someone allowed to send an announcement can’t automatically rewrite your receipts.
The three delivery channels
| Channel | Where it lands |
|---|---|
| In-app | The bell and Notifications inbox on your site. Staff read theirs at Studio → System → Notifications. |
| The recipient’s inbox, branded, sent through the mail account set in Settings → Security → SMTP. | |
| Push | Phones that registered for notifications. |

| Newsletter subscribers | Everyone on your footer sign-up list. See The newsletter list. |
The 22 automatic notifications
These run on their own. Staff alerts go to the people whose role covers that work, not to every administrator. Every notification starts with in-app and push on; the last column shows whether email starts on.

Rewrite a notification
- 1Open the templates
Go to Studio → System → Notification Templates. You need the Edit automatic notification wording & switches permission.
- 2Find the notification
Use Search notifications…. If your site runs more than one language, pick the language to edit from the pills beside the search.
- 3Set the switches
The switch on the left sends the notification at all. The In-app bell, Email and Mobile push buttons set its channels.
- 4Edit the words
Expand the card and change Title and Message. Some notifications have variants; a grey line above each box says when it is used.
- 5Insert variables
Click a chip after Insert: to drop in a value such as {plan} at the cursor. Only the variables that box receives are offered, and a title often gets fewer than its message.
- 6Preview
Click Preview to see the finished sentence.
- 7Save
Click Save changes in the bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, or Cancel to discard.
