Use Compose Notification when you have news: a new season, a schedule change, a free weekend. Use Notification Templates to set the words of the messages the platform sends on its own, such as receipts, expiry warnings and staff alerts. Each lives under Studio → System and has its own permission, so someone allowed to send an announcement can’t automatically rewrite your receipts.

The three delivery channels

ChannelWhere it lands
In-appThe bell and Notifications inbox on your site. Staff read theirs at Studio → System → Notifications.
EmailThe recipient’s inbox, branded, sent through the mail account set in Settings → Security → SMTP.
PushPhones that registered for notifications.

Send an announcement

  1. 1
    Open the composer

Go to Studio → System → Compose Notification. You need the Compose & broadcast notifications permission.

  2. 2
    Choose the audience

Pick one card under Audience. Each card shows how many people it reaches.

  3. 3
    Pick channels

Under Channels, In-app, Email and the phone push channel start on. Turn off any you don’t want; at least one must stay on.

  4. 4
    Write the title

Enter a Title of up to 200 characters.

  5. 5
    Write the message

Use the formatting editor for Message, up to 5,000 characters.

  6. 6
    Add a link if useful

Action URL (optional) gives recipients an “Open” link, for example to your plans page.

  7. 7
    Check and send

Read the Preview and the Recipients count, then click Broadcast now.

  8. 8
    Confirm large sends

Over 50 recipients, a Send to everyone? box asks you to confirm with Yes, broadcast. The success screen shows how many people it reached.

The 22 automatic notifications

These run on their own. Staff alerts go to the people whose role covers that work, not to every administrator. Every notification starts with in-app and push on; the last column shows whether email starts on.

Rewrite a notification

  1. 1
    Open the templates

Go to Studio → System → Notification Templates. You need the Edit automatic notification wording & switches permission.

  2. 2
    Find the notification

Use Search notifications…. If your site runs more than one language, pick the language to edit from the pills beside the search.

  3. 3
    Set the switches

The switch on the left sends the notification at all. The In-app bell, Email and Mobile push buttons set its channels.

  4. 4
    Edit the words

Expand the card and change Title and Message. Some notifications have variants; a grey line above each box says when it is used.

  5. 5
    Insert variables

Click a chip after Insert: to drop in a value such as {plan} at the cursor. Only the variables that box receives are offered, and a title often gets fewer than its message.

  6. 6
    Preview

Click Preview to see the finished sentence.

  7. 7
    Save

Click Save changes in the bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, or Cancel to discard.
