Going live & streams
My event page still shows the countdown
Quick answer
The countdown runs to the start time on your platform’s clock. If it hasn’t reached zero at kickoff, the start time was almost always typed on a different clock.
Check this first
- 1Compare the times
Check the event’s Start date & time against Default timezone in Studio → System → Settings → Locale → Region.
- 2Ignore the label
Timezone (Only for display) only adds EST, CST, MST, PST or GMT after the time. It never moves the countdown.
- 3Check it on another device
The countdown is worked out from the device’s own clock. If one device disagrees with the rest, its clock is wrong.
- 4Reload the page
The watch page swaps the countdown for the player on its own. A page opened before you changed the start time still counts to the old one until it’s reloaded.
Likely cause → fix
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The countdown is whole hours off for everyone | The start time was typed on another timezone’s clock | Correct Starts on your platform’s clock from the Events list. |
| It’s right for most viewers but wrong for one | That viewer’s device clock is set wrong | Ask them to set their device’s date and time to update automatically. |
| The countdown finished and the page reads “Connecting to live stream…” | The start time is right; no picture is arriving | Check the encoder or camera. See “My encoder won’t connect”. |
| The homepage still shows the old time | The homepage takes up to two minutes to catch up | Wait, then reload. |
