Going live & streams

My encoder won’t connect

Quick answer

Almost always the push address or key doesn’t match the Studio. Re-copy both with the Copy buttons, paste them into the encoder again and restart the stream.

Check this first

  1. 1
    Open the right push details

For an event using A · Automatic or C · CamScheduler, go to Studio → Feed Console → Event Hub, click Details and find Ingest configuration. For a feed, go to Studio → Feed Console → Feeds and click Console on its row.

  2. 2
    Check the event was saved

On the event form, the RTMP ingest URL and Secret key boxes read “Available after save” until the event has been saved once. Save it, then copy.

  3. 3
    Re-copy both values

Use the Copy buttons. Don’t retype a key or check it by eye.

  4. 4
    Paste into the right fields

The address goes in the encoder’s server field and the key in its stream key field. In OBS, Service must be Custom…; in vMix, Destination must be Custom RTMP Server.

  5. 5
    Restart the push

Stop the stream in the encoder, start it again, and watch the card in Event Hub or Feed Hub. Both refresh every 5 seconds while Auto refresh is on.
