Going live & streams
My broadcast didn’t start at the scheduled time
Quick answer
The player appears at the start time on your platform’s clock, and only when the event is Active and a picture is arriving. Check the start time against your Default timezone first, then the source.
Check this first
- 1Read the watch page
Open the event’s watch page in a private window, signed in as a viewer. What it shows tells you where to look next (see the table below).
- 2Check the status
In Studio → Content → Events, confirm the event’s Status is ACTIVE. An Inactive event is off the site.
- 3Check the clock
Compare Start date & time with Default timezone in Studio → System → Settings → Locale → Region. Times are read on that clock, not your computer’s.
- 4Check the picture
For an Automatic or CamScheduler event, find its card in Studio → Feed Console → Event Hub. For a Manual event, find its feed in Feed Hub. Is it live, or idle?
Likely cause → fix
| What viewers see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “Event not yet live” and a countdown after kickoff | The start time was typed on a different clock | On the Events list, click the pencil after Ends and correct Starts on your platform’s clock. |
| “Connecting to live stream…” | The start time has passed but no picture is arriving | Fix the encoder or camera. The page starts playing on its own when the picture arrives, with no refresh. |
| “Event ended” as soon as they open it | The event is Inactive, for example retired because its end time had passed | Move Ends later and set Status back to ACTIVE, then save. |
| “Active automatic-event quota reached” when you save | Too many Automatic or CamScheduler events are inside their windows at once | Let one end, or set a finished one to Inactive. Check overlaps in Studio → Content → Events Calendar. |
| A sign-in, subscription or ticket message | The broadcast is fine; this viewer is blocked | See “A viewer can’t play a video or event” in the Playback & viewers topic. |
