Broadcast operations

Give crew their own logins

Create sign-ins for camera operators, replay officials and scorers that give each person only the feeds or scores they need — and nothing else in the Studio.

A camera operator shouldn’t need an administrator’s password, and a stream key shouldn’t travel by email. Give each crew member their own staff account with a narrow role. When they sign in to the streaming, review or scoring app your team uses, they receive only what that role allows. Athletic directors and production managers usually set this up before the season.

Who gets what

Set up a crew login

  1. 1
    Create a crew role

An administrator opens Studio → Management → Roles & Permissions, selects New role, and names it — “Camera crew”, say. Tick only the capability from the table above and select Create role.

  2. 2
    Create the account

Go to Studio → Management → Staff Members, select NEW STAFF, enter the person’s Full name and Email, pick the crew role and set a password of at least 8 characters.

  3. 3
    Make the feeds available

Check the feeds they’ll use are switched Active in Studio → Feed Console → Feeds. Inactive feeds aren’t handed out.

  4. 4
    Hand over the sign-in

Give the crew member their email and password in person or through a secure channel. They sign in to the app with those same details.

  5. 5
    Test it together

Have them sign in before the event and confirm the right feeds appear. Then watch their push arrive on the Feed Hub.

The Studio
Studio → Management → Roles & Permissions → New role, the Live production group with only the push to Feeds streamer login ticked

When a feed is missing from someone’s list

  • Someone is already broadcasting to it — check the Feed Hub. This is deliberate, so two crews never push to one feed.
  • The feed is switched off — turn Active back on.
  • It’s an SRT feed — send the operator the details from the feed’s Ingest Configuration instead.
  • The role is missing the capability — check it in Roles & Permissions.
