Route feeds on the Pipelines board
Wire a source feed into destination feeds by dragging a cable, switch each route on and off, and understand the wiring the board refuses.
On this page
The Pipelines board is where a technical producer decides which incoming picture lands on which feed — for example, sending the stadium camera into the feed your studio channel plays. Open Studio → Feed Console → Pipelines. You need at least one feed first; if you have none, the board offers Go to feeds.
How the board is laid out
Source feeds run down the left under Feed (source). Destinations run down the right under Feed (route). Every route is a cable between the two, and each source card shows how many routes it’s using against its limit.
Wire a route
- 1Pick up the source
Drag a source card from the left. The Studio reminds you: “Drag this card onto a destination on the right to wire it.”
- 2Drop it on a destination
Release it over a feed on the right. On a tablet, select Add route on the source card instead, then tap a feed in Pick a destination.
- 3Read the confirmation
“Route added and streaming.” means the picture is already flowing. “Route added.” means the route exists but isn’t running yet.
- 4Switch routes on and off
Use the route’s ON/OFF switch to start or stop it without removing the cable. Removing the cable shows “Route removed.”
Wiring the board refuses
The board stops the mistakes that would otherwise produce a dead stream with no warning, and says why in plain English.
| What you tried | What the board says | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Routing a feed into itself | “A feed cannot route to itself.” | It would loop the picture back into its own source |
| Adding one more route than the source allows | “Maximum … routes already wired for this source.” | Each source has a route limit, shown on its card — remove a cable first |
| Routing into an SRT feed | The destination “is an SRT feed, so it cannot receive an RTMP route” | An SRT feed only receives its own SRT push. It can still be a source. |
| Wiring the same route twice | “Route already exists.” | The cable is already there |
| Routing but the streaming server refuses it | “Route added but upstream rejected the announce — toggle it manually from the Details page.” | Open the pipeline’s details and switch the route on there |
Pipeline details
Select Console on a pipeline to open its details: live status, the same statistics and Performance chart as a feed, and a Destinations list where each route has Go live and Stop.
Custom pipelines
A Custom pipeline takes its source from details you type in rather than from a feed, and is kept for older setups. Select New custom pipeline to make one — this needs the console unlocked. You can rename one or change its address without unlocking; changing its Adaptive bitrate needs the unlock.
