Add a product with sizes, colours and stock
Set up your sizes, colours and categories, create a product with photos and prices, and turn on stock tracking.
On this page
This is for whoever runs merchandise: a team shop, a station’s branded gear, or a partner’s products you link out to. You set up the reusable pieces once, and every product after that takes a few minutes. The store lives on the same site as your video, and buying a product never changes what anyone can watch.
Before you start
- The Shop switch is on in Studio → System → Settings → Content → Features.
- Your role includes the Shop (products, categories, variants, orders) permission.
- At least one payment provider is connected, or shoppers will have no way to pay. See Connecting Stripe, PayPal & Square.
Set up sizes, colours and tags
Variants are shared lists that every product picks from, so you create “Large” once rather than once per shirt.
- 1Open Variants
Go to Studio → Shop → Variants. There are three tabs: Sizes, Colors and Tags.
- 2Add sizes
On Sizes, click New and enter a Name (“Large”) and an optional Short code (“L”).
- 3Add colours
On Colors, click New, enter a Name and pick the Color code so the storefront shows a real swatch.
- 4Add tags
On Tags, add labels shoppers can filter by, such as “Home kit” or “Limited”, with an optional description.
- 5Add categories
Go to Studio → Shop → Categories, click New category, and give each one a Name and optional Description.
Create the product
- 1Start a product
Go to Studio → Shop → Products and click New product.
- 2Describe it
Enter the Name (the Slug fills itself in), an optional SKU, a Short description for cards and a full Description for the product page.
- 3Add photos
Under Featured image, click PICK IMAGE. Add more shots under Gallery. Everything comes from your media library.
- 4Pick variants
Tick the Available sizes, Available colors and Tags that apply. Shoppers choose from exactly these at checkout.
- 5Price it
Enter the Price. Leave Sale price empty unless the product is on sale — see Sale pricing.
- 6Choose a category and status
Pick a Category, set Status to Active, and switch on Featured product if you want it highlighted.
- 7Save
Click SAVE CHANGES. Add the SEO title, description and keywords now or later.
Track stock
In the Stock card, switch on Track stock and enter how many you have. The number counts down as orders come in, shoppers can’t order more than you have left, and at zero the product switches itself to Out of stock. Leave Track stock off for print-on-demand items or anything you can’t run out of.
| Status | What shoppers see |
|---|---|
| Active | The product is on sale |
| Inactive | The product is hidden from the storefront |
| Out of stock | The product is shown but can’t be bought; set automatically when tracked stock reaches zero |
Sell a product fulfilled by someone else
For merchandise a partner ships, open the External link card, switch on Buy on an external site and paste the External URL. The Buy button then opens that link in a new tab, and checkout on your site is skipped. No order is recorded on your platform for these sales.
