Pair a radio station with an event
Attach a companion radio station to an event so the radio call travels with the broadcast.
On this page
Many local broadcasters call the same game on radio and on video. Pairing the station with the event records which station carries the radio call for that broadcast. It also gives audio-only listeners an obvious place to go on game day. Producers usually do this when they create the event, but you can add or change the station at any time.
Before you start
- The station already exists in Studio → Radio → Stations, is set to Active, and returns Reachable when you click TEST.
- You can edit events: you’ll find them in Studio → Content → Events.
Attach the station
- 1Open the event
Go to Studio → Content → Events and open the event, or click to create a new one.
- 2Find the companion field
In the event details, below Venue and Duration, find Companion radio station. It’s optional and starts empty, reading “No companion radio station”.
- 3Pick the station
Open the field and search by the station’s name or its Station ID. Each option shows the station’s artwork so you can tell similar names apart.
- 4Save the event
Save as you normally would. The station is stored with the event.
Change or remove the station
- 1Open the event again
Studio → Content → Events, then the event.
- 2Change or clear the field
Pick a different station, or clear Companion radio station so it reads “No companion radio station”.
- 3Save
The change applies straight away. The station itself isn’t affected and stays on your Radio page.
What the event controls, and what the station controls
| Setting | Comes from |
|---|---|
| Who can watch the video | The event’s Access control card (free, subscription, ticket, or subscription or ticket) |
| Who can listen to the radio | Your site-wide sign-in wall only, never the event’s price |
| Station name and artwork | Studio → Radio → Stations |
| Whether the station is shown at all | The station’s Status and the Radio feature switch |
Game-day checklist
- Run TEST on the station an hour before the broadcast.
- Add or move up a Radio Stations row in Studio → Home → Sections so listeners land on it.
- Mention the radio call in the event’s short description so viewers know it exists.
- Remind your on-air team that listeners using the persistent player can keep the station running while they browse the event page and the rest of the site.
