Payments & access
My free trial isn’t showing at checkout
Quick answer
Trials need Stripe, a Recurring plan with Free trial (days) filled in, and a viewer who hasn’t had that plan before. Anyone who has held the plan pays from the start.
Check this first
- 1Open the plan
In Studio → Management → Subscription Plans, check the billing type is Recurring (e.g. monthly) and Free trial (days) has a number, up to 365.
- 2Check the price
A plan priced 0 is already free, so it shows no trial.
- 3Check Stripe
In Studio → Management → Payments → Gateways, Stripe should read Ready.
- 4Check the viewer’s history
Search their email in Transactions. A trial is given once per person per plan.
Likely cause → fix
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No free-trial badge on the pricing page | Free trial (days) is empty, or the plan is free | Enter the number of days and save. |
| The badge shows, but checkout takes the full price | This viewer has had the plan before | Expected. The trial is once per person per plan, even after cancelling. |
| “No payment methods configured” on a trial plan | A trial plan only offers providers that can renew, and PayPal takes one-time payments only | Connect Stripe. |
| No trial field on a season pass | Fixed window plans can’t offer a trial | Use a Recurring plan for the trial offer. |
