A discount code won’t work
Quick answer
A code is refused when it’s inactive, expired, used up or not set for the plan being bought. Codes work on subscription plans and, when you allow it, one-off form fees, never on tickets or store orders.
Check this first
- 1Find the code
Go to Studio → Management → Coupons and search for it. Read its Status (Active, Inactive or Expired) and its Usage.
- 2Check the plans
Open the code and look at Applies to. With Selected plans, the plan being bought must be ticked under Choose plans.
- 3Check the expiry
Look at Expires on. The code stops working as that date begins, in your site’s timezone.
- 4Check where it was used
Plan checkout takes codes. Ticket and store checkouts don’t.
Likely cause → fix
| Message or symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “Invalid or expired coupon.” | The code is Inactive, past its expiry, used up, or mistyped | Set it to ACTIVE, choose a later Expires on date, or raise Usage limit. |
| “This coupon does not apply to the selected plan.” | The code is limited to other plans | Tick this plan under Choose plans, or choose Every plan. |
| A code doesn’t work on a ticket or store order | Codes only discount subscription plans and form fees | Use a sale price for merchandise, or lower the event’s PPE price for a promotion. |
| A code is refused on a form | The code’s Form fees section is off, it’s limited to other forms, or the fee is monthly | Switch on Form fees in the coupon window and choose the forms. Codes can’t discount a monthly fee. |
