Switch on and moderate comments

Turn on comments for articles and events, choose whether they need approval, and work the moderation queue.

Updated 2 min read2 parts

Comments are off until you switch them on, separately for articles and for events. Once they’re on, readers can reply to a comment one level deep and react with like, love, laugh or wow. Moderating needs the Moderate comments (blog & events) permission.

Switch comments on

  1. 1
    Open Features

Go to Studio → System → Settings → Content → Features. You need the Site Settings (theme, branding, integrations…) permission to change these switches.

  2. 2
    Choose where

Switch on Blog comments for articles, Event comments for event watch pages, or both.

  3. 3
    Choose approval

Leave Auto-approve comments off to review every comment before it appears, or switch it on to publish comments instantly.

  4. 4
    Save

Save the Features screen. Comment sections appear on the public pages you switched on.

Work the moderation queue

  1. 1
    Open Comments

Go to Studio → Library → Comments. A banner tells you whether auto-approve is on or off.

  2. 2
    Narrow the list

Use the Pending, Approved, Rejected and All tabs — each shows a live count — and the All types, Blog and Events buttons. Search comments or users… looks through comment text and authors.

  3. 3
    Read the context

Each comment shows its author and their email, its status, a Reply badge if it answers another comment, and On: with a link to the article or event.

  4. 4
    Act on one

Click the tick to Approve, the cross to Reject, or the bin to Delete. Delete asks you to confirm.

  5. 5
    Act on many

Tick several comments, or the box in the header for the whole page, then choose Approve selected, Reject selected or Delete selected.

The Studio
Studio → Library → Comments on the Pending tab, three comments ticked and the bar showing Approve selected, Reject selected and Delete selected.
