My List or saved progress isn’t working for a viewer
Quick answer
My List and saved progress only work for signed-in viewers, on the same account. Progress is saved every 30 seconds, and a title counts as finished once they pass 90% of it.
Check this first
- 1Check they’re signed in
Guests don’t get an Add to List button, opening My List sends them to sign in, and no progress is recorded for them.
- 2Check it’s the same account
Lists and progress belong to an account, not a device. A browser or device signed in to another account shows that account’s list.
- 3Check how far they watched
Past 90% of the running time, a title counts as finished rather than in progress.
- 4Check when they stopped
Progress is saved every 30 seconds while something plays, so the last few seconds may not be saved.
Likely cause → fix
| The viewer says | Why | What to tell them |
|---|---|---|
| “My List is empty on another device” | That device is signed in to a different account | Sign in there with the account that built the list. |
| “My saved place is a few seconds behind where I stopped” | Progress is saved every 30 seconds | Expected. |
| “A title I finished still shows as unfinished” | They stopped before 90% of the file’s real length, for example before a long post-show segment | Expected. |
| “My place is wrong since you updated the video” | Saved positions belong to the title, not the file | For a very different cut, publish a new title instead of replacing the file. |
| “I saved it but it still asks me to pay” | Saving to My List doesn’t unlock anything | Subscribe or buy access as the watch page asks. |
